A moment of reflection by the Levi Pelloni Foundation on the tragedy of the foibe and the exodus of the Julian-Dalmatians 

Starting from the axiom, dear to our Foundation, that remembering is first and foremost a civic and moral duty to avoid the repetition of tragic pages that still create divisions and resentment today, Luciana Ascarelli , vice president of the Foundation, Franco Laicini of the Società di Studi Fiumani, Francesco Raponi of the Foundation of the same name, the historian Pino Pelloni and the actress Mariella Sapienza met on February 10th in the Sala Alessandrina of the Museum of Medical Art in Rome.

" As with Holocaust Remembrance Day ," Pino Pelloni explained, " we reject the pedagogy of horror and compassion, focusing entirely on the pedagogy of truth. Historical truth, made up of documents and testimonies, which in our country is contested by communities not yet at peace with the overused refrain of justificationist or reductionist theses. An objective and sincere reading of the events of that land and that historical period is necessary, regardless of state laws that legitimize remembering ."

The interventions of Luciana Ascarelli and Francesco Raponi supported the historical intervention of Pino Pelloni while the testimony of the Istrian-Dalmatian exodus offered by Franco Laicini was enriched by the reading of poignant passages by the actress Mariella Sapienza.
