Fulvio Salimbeni (President of the Institute for Central European Cultural Encounters) “1917 The turning point in World War I”: introduced by Prof. Donatella Schürzel (President of the ANVGD Committee of Rome), moderated by Dr. Marino Micich (Society of Fiumani Studies).
From the defeat of Caporetto to the battle of stopping the Piave in that conflict which for many Italians represented the Fourth War of Independence, from the October Revolution to the entry of the United States of America into what contemporaries called the Great War: many are the events in 1917 which influenced the outcome of the First World War and which will be analysed with particular reference to the consequences for the fate of the unredeemed lands ofIstria, Rijeka and Dalmatia.
