On Monday, December 11, at 17:00 p.m., at the Casa del Ricordo (Via di San Teodoro, 72 – Rome), the Rome Provincial Committee of the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia is organizing a conference by Professor Fulvio Salimbeni (President of the Institute for Central European Cultural Encounters) entitled “ 1917: A Turning Point in the First World War .” The conference will be introduced by Professor Donatella Schürzel (President of the ANVGD Committee of Rome), and moderated by Dr. Marino Micich (Society of Fiume Studies).

From the defeat of Caporetto to the battle of the Piave in that conflict which for many Italians represented the Fourth War of Independence, from the October Revolution to the entry of the United States of America into what contemporaries called the Great War: many were the events in 1917 that influenced the outcome of the First World War and which will be analysed with particular reference to the consequences for the fate of the unredeemed lands of Istria, Fiume and Dalmatia.
