1954 Trieste Italy: History in a Comic Book
On Saturday 26 October, on the seventieth anniversary of the return of Trieste to Italy, an unpublished, complex and multifaceted work will be released in bookstores – with an essay and short stories alternating with pages of illustrated comics – on the history of the disputed city.
Journalists and historians Umberto Maiorca and Emanuele Mastrangelo have signed for Ferrogallico over 200 unpublished pages on Trieste over the centuries with a focus on the post-war events up to the long-awaited days of 1954.
A long historical journey embellished by the illustrations and comic strips of Francesco Bisaro, a Tolkienian artist, author of the only Italian illustration – the map of the Shire – present in the illustrated edition of “The Lord of the Rings”.
