Giuliani around the World at the Marcinelle commemorations
"It was a pleasure and an honor to open the meeting in Marcinelle, Belgium, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Bois du Cazier mine tragedy, a wound in our history that, seventy years later, we must not forget." These were the words of Pamela Rabaccio, vice president of the Giuliani nel Mondo Association, who represented the AGM at the official ceremonies held on the mine site, now a museum and a World Heritage Site since 2012. On August 8, 1956, 262 miners lost their lives, including 136 Italians and several fellow countrymen from Friuli Venezia Giulia. They were men who left our land to...

Commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the martyrdom of Nazario Sauro
I die with the sole regret of depriving my dearest and most kind children of their beloved father, but you still have the Fatherland, which will take my place. And by this Fatherland, swear, Nino, and make your brothers swear, when they are old enough to understand, that you will always, everywhere, and above all be Italians. Only a few days remain before the Kingdom of Italy declares war on the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the irredentist Nazario Sauro, born in Koper on September 20, 1880, who took refuge in Venice when the First World War broke out to avoid having to fight in the Habsburg army, has given his journalist friend Silvio Stringari a letter addressed to his firstborn...

Thirty-two stories of dedication to the medical profession from across Italy. Passion, generosity, and a calling to altruism far beyond the bounds of the Hippocratic Oath. Just like Geppino Micheletti, the Trieste surgeon (1905-1961) who, on Sunday, August 18, 1946, operated for over 24 hours on the wounded who were arriving continuously at the Sartorio Hospital in Pula from the nearby Vergarolla beach, where a cache of defused mines had been detonated, causing carnage among the families who were watching the Scarioni Cup swimming competitions while awaiting the evening celebration that would celebrate the 60th anniversary.
