Fiume literature enters the Trieste Literature Museum
Rijeka literature officially joins the collection of LETS – Trieste's Literature Museum. Yesterday morning, the complete collection of five bilingual boxed sets, produced by the Association of Rijeka Italians in the World in collaboration with the Italian Community of Rijeka and the Department of Italian Studies at the University of Rijeka, as part of the "Cultural Return to Rijeka" project, was handed over to director Riccardo Cepach, with the support of the Municipality of Trieste – Department of Museums. The documentary film "Rotta 230° Ritorno alla terra dei padri" (Directed by Igor Biddau) will be screened in the Documentary section of the Italian Film Festival - Le Stelle d'Argento on Tuesday, July 28th at 17:45 PM in Screen 2 of the Nuovo Cinema Caporali in Piazzetta San Domenico in Castiglione del Lago (PG). Monfalcone rediscovers the memory of the Eastern Border
July 23, 2026 - The Galleria Comunale d'Arte Contemporanea in Monfalcone (GO) is preparing to host "MEMORIE RITROVATE," a major exhibition bringing together over one hundred works, historical posters, photographs, and documents that recount the events, transformations, and multiple identities of the eastern Adriatic. The exhibition, with contributions from the Regional Institute for Istrian-Fiumano-Dalmatian Culture of Trieste (IRCI), among others, will open on Saturday, July 25, at 11:00 a.m. The exhibition features paintings by some of the most significant artists active in Trieste, Venezia Giulia, Rijeka, Istria, and Dalmatia.

The medals of Geppino Micheletti, the hero of Vergarolla
Geppino Micheletti, the doctor who would become the hero of Vergarolla on August 18, 1946, was born in Trieste on July 18, 1905, for his determination and professionalism in caring for the wounded in the attack that had caused carnage on the Polesine beach where entire families were watching the Scarioni Cup swimming competitions. Over 100 people died, including at least 30 children, including the surgeon's two sons. On that blood-stained beach, he also lost his brother and sister-in-law.
