La Society of Fiuman Studies chaired by Prof. Giovanni Stelli, Secretary General Dr. Marino Micich remembers and honors the Day of Freedom which falls on November 9th.

On November 1989, 9, the Berlin Wall fell.

In 1990, the Fiume exiles of the Society of Fiume Studies – Historical Museum Archive returned to their city of origin (for the Croats, Rijeka) asking the Croatian authorities for the right of return.

Since then, the Society of Fiumani Studies has begun a cultural dialogue free from ideological prejudices in Europe in the city of origin, reinvigorating the Italian culture that had been opposed by the Yugoslavian communist regime of Tito. The story of this journey in a book "From exile to return".
