At Librixia books and metabooks for the history of the Adriatic border
Among the publications present at the stand of the Multimedia Documentation Center of Julian, Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian culture at Librixia. Brescia Book Fair, it is attracting a lot of attention After the Exodus. From Refugees to Citizens. The Process of Integration of Julians and Dalmatians in Italy in the Second Half of the Twentieth Century Through the Events of Brescia.
This is a research project supported by the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, launched as part of the initiatives carried out for Bergamo-Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023 and developed by Prof. Giovanni Spinelli, who recently published it for Sestante Edizioni (Ranica – BG). In the pages of the volume, enriched by an interesting iconographic apparatus that also drew on the material made available by Laura Busecchian, Provincial Delegate of the ANVGD, the archipelago of reception for thousands of Istrians, Fiume and Dalmatians that had developed in the immediate post-war period around the Lombard capital emerges. The hub was represented by the Goito barracks, which the Anglo-Americans had already designated as a reception center for displaced persons and refugees. Soon the Istrian-Venetian, Fiuman and Dalmatian dialects would echo within its walls and one of the first ANVGD Committees (initially the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Zara) would be formed, whose president, Antonio “Tonci” Cepich from Zara, was for half a century the point of reference for the Adriatic community in exile in Brescia.
The presentation scheduled for tomorrow is unfortunately postponed due to the author's health reasons, but a new date for the official "premiere" will be communicated as soon as possible. The other event that CDM and ANVGD have included to carry out will instead take place regularly La Bancarella. Book Fair in the Eastern Adriatic in the Brescia festival program. Sunday 6 October at 15:30 pm in the Salottino del Libro inside the marquee that hosts the book stands in Piazza della Vittoria in Brescia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit, the Meta Liber created by Mazzanti Editori will be presented, entitled The Adriatic Frontier. The Twentieth Century and the Eastern Border . Thanks to multimedia supports accessible via Qrcode, these agile volumes provide an immersive educational experience starting from the temporary exhibition set up by the Julian-Dalmatian association at M9 – Museo del '900 in Mestre. Coordinated by Prof. Maria Elena Depetroni, the editor Andrea Mazzanti, the historian Raoul Pupo and Caterina Spezzano (MIM) will intervene.
