Presentation of “The Last Witness” in Verona

The presentation of the volume was held in Verona, in the suggestive setting of the CTG Conference Hall of Santa Maria in Chiavica The Last Witness: The Story of Secret Agent Sergio Cionci and the Istrians in the Cold War. The initiative was sponsored by the Multimedia Documentation Centre – Adriatic Archipelago of Trieste, the Association Adriatic Coordination of Bologna, of the Magna Carta Foundation, of LiMes Club Verona and of the National Association Venezia Giulia Dalmazia itself.

The author and the protagonist of the story, Andrea Romoli (RAI journalist) and Sergio Cionci respectively, spoke in front of a large and participatory audience via video conference. The meeting was moderated by Davide Rossi (University of Trieste). Greetings from the local authorities and the Julian-Dalmatian associations were brought by Stefano Casali (deputy mayor of Verona) and Francesca Briani (president of ANVGD. Verona). Giuseppe Parlato (LUSPIO) and Giorgio Federico Siboni (University of Milan) explored the historical and narrative aspects of the story and the operational details illustrated by the author on the basis of the memories formulated by the protagonist.

The meeting was enriched by a space dedicated to the promotion of historical and memorial volumes published by the acronyms promoting the event and in particular by the Exhibition of projects reserved for the restoration of the museum buildings of Poreč curated by Elisabeth Foroni.
