As part of the initiatives supported by the Municipality of Trieste on the occasion of Remembrance Day 2026, the Circolo Istria organized a round table discussion on Wednesday, February 26th entitled "Arsia, lest we forget," which can be viewed on the cultural association's YouTube channel.

An opportunity to remember the sacrifice of the 185 miners who died in what was the greatest mining tragedy ever to occur in Italy at the time. It also serves to highlight the need to promote awareness and memory of this long-forgotten disaster and reiterate the importance, today, of electing that sacrifice as a European symbol of the martyrs of labor.

This year, the commemoration takes on particular significance in light of President Sergio Mattarella's decision to award the victims of the Arsia mining tragedy the Star of Merit for Labor.
