Arsia, a forgotten tragedy
Thursday February 27 the round table promoted by the Istrian-Venetian cultural circle “Istria” took place in the auditorium of the Casa della Musica in Trieste Arsia, a forgotten tragedy.
It was uan occasion to remember the sacrifice of the 185 miners who died in what was the greatest mining tragedy that had ever occurred in Italy at the time and to commemorate all the martyrs of work. A moment of reflection to signify the need to promote knowledge and memory of a disaster, often “forgotten” and removed from the collective conscience, which deeply shook Istria, and to reiterate the importance, today, of electing that sacrifice as a symbol of the common commitment, at a European level, for the values, safety and dignity of work.
The meeting took place as part of the program of cultural events and initiatives of the Municipality of Trieste for the Day of Remembrance.
