The winners of the 24th international literary competition "Mailing List Histria" have been announced. The Italian Community of Pula recently published an "Albo de ricordi de polesani," a publication edited by Tamara Brussich with a wealth of illustrations that traces the history of the Istrian capital, from the Belle Époque to the years of Yugoslavia, including two world wars and their aftermath. The history of Fiume told through stamps
Stamps and postal documents retrace over a century and a half of Rijeka's history. The exhibition "Rijeka 1850-2018 Rijeka. Rijeka Philately between Myth, History, and Economy 1918-1924" opened at the Garbas Gallery on Calle Canapini. The exhibition is being presented again in Rijeka by the same authors, following its initial presentation in 2018 at the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera, Gabriele D'Annunzio's historic residence, and its subsequent stop in Monfalcone. 80th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Don Bonifacio
The commemoration ceremony for the 80th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Don Bonifacio will take place on Thursday, September 10, at 16:30 PM in Largo Don Bonifacio in Trieste. It was September 11, 1946, when the young Istrian parish priest Francesco Bonifacio was kidnapped near Krasica by the Popular Guards, who killed him and then hid his body. The search for the priest's body is still ongoing. He has since been beatified because he was martyred for hatred of the faith: his apostolic fervor, his constant presence among his parishioners, and his faith were unwelcome to the communist militias raging in Zone B of Venice.

The dramatic geopolitical shifts of recent years, ongoing wars, and international tensions increasingly tell us of exoduses of entire populations, fleeing weapons, persecution, or hunger. The current images bring to mind the memory of the Julian-Dalmatian exodus, when hundreds of thousands of Italians were forced to emigrate from Istria, Fiume, and Dalmatia between 1945 and the following decade, following the climate of intimidation and violence that culminated in the tragedy of the Foibe massacres.
