Upt Dimela Singing 2023

The Music Festival Competition in Istrian-Venetian has been announced

During its recent meeting in Rovinj, the Executive Board of the Italian Union approved the competition announcement for the 11th edition of “Dimela cantando”, promoted as part of the 12th edition of the Istroveneto Festival.

The singing competition is open to lyricists with lyrics written in the Istro-Venetian dialect spoken by the Italians of Istria, along with the authors of the music.

Those interested in participating must indicate the title of the song, the names of the authors of the lyrics and music, send the text in Word format and a recording of the song performed in the studio.

Each author can submit a maximum of two unreleased songs, with a maximum duration of three and a half minutes.

The aim of the Istrovento Festival is to protect and promote the Istroveneto dialect which, despite being a "living language" as it is actively spoken, is undergoing a slow but inexorable lexical impoverishment due to natural socio-economic changes, especially in the sphere linked to ancient crafts and rural life.

The Festival is promoted by the Italian Union, in collaboration, with the support and patronage of the City of Buje, the Department of Culture of the Istrian Region, the People's University of Trieste and the Veneto Region. Given the importance of the event and its high cultural value, it has obtained the Patronage of the Veneto Region.

Those interested in joining “Dimela cantando” can submit their songs to the following email address: cultura@unione-italiana.hr no later than March 3, 2023.
