FederEsuli's 2025 budget and outlook for 2026
A year of fundamental importance, this 2025 that has just ended, for the results achieved by FederEsuli, the Federation of Associations of Istrian, Rijeka, and Dalmatian Exiles, engaged in numerous initiatives.
First of all, the inauguration of the MEDIF (Exhibition of Dalmatian, Istrian and Fiume Exiles)) at the Grottone Hall, at the Vittoriano (Altar of the Fatherland) in Rome last October: an event that aroused enormous interest, contributing to the history of the eastern border's growing recognition as one of the key events that shaped the last century. The fruit of years of work, MEDIF is the culmination of the efforts of the Associations, offering visitors an immersive multimedia journey through the stories of those forced to leave their lands due to the world conflict.
Since the beginning of the year, as the President of FederEsuli Renzo Codarin, «We have seen a sharp increase in Remembrance Trips, double the previous period, by groups of students and school groups, who are accompanied to the symbolic sites of the Exodus. Alongside these, study and refresher seminars for teachers from all over Italy, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit, have become increasingly frequent and well-attended.
Key stages also include the series of informative events, meeting moments and initiatives linked to GO!2025, in the wake of the dialogue between the countries, such as the visit of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to Koper, for the inauguration of the restored Italian language school complex, the participation in the Turin Book Fair, at the Barcolana and in the context of important events and anniversaries, such as the occasion of the remembrance of the extreme sacrifice of Norma Cossetto, Nazario Sauro or of Vergarolla massacre, in which at least 100 people lost their lives, including many young people and very young people, in August 1946.
On the occasion of the next February 10th, Remembrance Day 2026, the inauguration of the new monument dedicated to the Martyrs of the Foibe, born from a competition of ideas promoted by the Ministry of University and Research, which saw the winner the Academy of Fine Arts of Reggio Calabria.
