Franco Giuseppe Gobbato has managed to reconstruct, with various diaries and sources of the prisoners, with scientific data provided by Slovenian Institutes, with documents drawn from various Archives, with testimonies of Allied origin, of the International Red Cross and of the Military Hospital of Udine, the tragic moments of the life of the prisoners of the Borovnica Concentration Camp (SLO) also known as the "hell of the living dead". The numerous transit and permanent camps that were opened in other places of the former Yugoslavia where Italians were present have not been overlooked. A "story" to be discovered, now enriched with new important and unique documents 15 years after the first publication, with photographs, maps and the unpublished lists, considered destroyed by the OZNA, of the prisoners of Borovnica. A "story" that attempts to restore dignity to the memory of men who suffered and died and who still await remembrance and a flower at the edge of the mass graves into which they were thrown.

Franco Giuseppe Gobbato (Vittorio Veneto, 1964), historical researcher and writer. In January 2009 he was one of the eight researchers of the mixed department (Italians, Slovenians and Croatians) established by the Historical Studies and Research Centre “Silentes Loquimur” of Pordenone, to investigate the tragic events that occurred at the end of the Second World War on the eastern border. Since 2011 he has been a member of the Circolo Vittoriese di Ricerche Storiche, for which he has held several conferences on historical research carried out. He is a founding member of the Cultural Association “Luce nella Storia”. In 2017 he was appointed, by the Municipality of Vittorio Veneto, as the contact person for the Memorial of the Knights of Vittorio Veneto at the Museum of the Battle of Vittorio Veneto as its creator. He has about twenty publications to his credit and has curated the historical part of several photographic exhibitions held in the Vittorio Veneto area.

With the collaboration of Giovanni Peco (Monza, 1962). For over twenty years he has been involved in historical research on the eastern border and the period 1943-1945. He collaborated with the author Pierangelo Pavesi on the book “Le vittime dimenticate”. He is a member of the Cultural Association “Luce nella Storia”.
