Agm Stand Northeast Sea

Celebrating 100 years since the first commercial seaplane flight from Trieste

On Sunday, May 31st, a piece of Italian history was celebrated. On this date in 1926, the first commercial seaplane flight departed from Trieste to Turin. One hundred years later, it was commemorated with a unique commemorative postmark as part of the first international seaplane rally held in the Julian capital.

The special Italian Postal Service cancellation for collectors and enthusiasts was issued as part of an event organized in collaboration with the Brussels Circle of Giuliani nel Mondo and the Giuliani nel Mondo Association of Trieste at the Mare Nordest stand, where dedicated postcards were also available.

The AGM extends special thanks to the Brussels Club, which initiated the initiative, to Guido Bognolo and Antonio Pavanello, who manned the stand alongside President Perini and Vice President Rabaccio. And to Commander Egidio Braicovich, who took part in the historical reenactment that took him from the Gulf of Trieste, over Turin, and finally landed on Lake Como!

Thanks to Manuela Rizzo of MareNordEst and the staff at Poste Italiane's Philately Space in Trieste, one of only nine left in all of Italy!
A story of sharing and success that brought the AGM to the attention of citizens but also of many tourists, from the most diverse countries (where our Julian emigrants-exiles are never lacking!).

Finally, we note that Engineer Vittorio Baroni discussed the dense network of air transport services connecting Trieste, Mali Lošinj, Venice, and other Italian and Mediterranean cities in a video conference organized by the Milan Provincial Committee of the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia. It's incredible to see the high number of passengers and cargo transported on these routes. A key role was played by the Cosulich brothers' Società Italiana Servizi Aerei, based in Mali Lošinj.
