The thirtieth anniversary of the Italian Union celebrated in Rijeka
Thirty years ago, on July 16, 1991, the Italian Union was born, the unitary Organization of Italians in Slovenia and Croatia, an expression of the democratic and pluralistic will of the Italian component of these lands and of the important renewing effort promoted by our compatriots with the first democratic elections in January of six decades ago. A great moment of awakening and national, social and political redemption of the Italian Community that culminated with the two phases of the Constituent Assembly, in Pola on March 2, and in Fiume on July 16, thirty years ago.
In a half-hour special by Ezio Giuricin, TV Capodistria presents and retraces these six decades of life of the Unitary Organization of Italians in Slovenia and Croatia, heir of the old UIIF and, at the same time, an expression, in those intense Nineties, of the minority's desire for political, democratic and civil change.
