Institutional Ceremony for Remembrance Day 2026 at the Chamber of Deputies

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., the ceremony commemorating Remembrance Day was held in the Chamber of Deputies of Montecitorio, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.

The opening remarks included welcoming addresses from the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, and the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, followed by remarks and testimonials from: Toni Concina, Honorary President of the Dalmatian Association; Gianni Oliva, historian; and Abdon Pamich, Italian Olympic champion.

During the event, an excerpt from the documentary "Il Marciatore," based on Pamich's autobiographical book, was screened. A passage from Mario Ravalico's book "Francesco Bonifacio: Life and Martyrdom of a Man of God," was also read by Silvia Siravo, an actress with the Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia, directed by Paolo Valerio. This was followed by a speech by Vice President of the Council of Ministers Antonio Tajani. The ceremony opened with the Italian national anthem and concluded with the European anthem—performed, along with Vivaldi's symphony "Al Santo Sepolcro," by the "Giuseppe Tartini" Conservatory of Trieste. The ceremony was broadcast live on Rai1, organized by Rai Parlamento, on the Chamber's web TV, and on its satellite channel. The award ceremony for the winning schools of the national "Giorno del Ricordo" competition, organized by the Ministry of Education, was also scheduled. The awards ceremony was presented by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, the President of the Senate, and the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara.

The ceremony was hosted by journalist Maria Antonietta Spadorcia.

Also on February 10th, flags at Montecitorio were flown at half-mast. That evening, the Italian flag was projected onto the building's façade.

The ceremony can be watched again on the Chamber of Deputies' web TV:
