Cesare Dell'Acqua, a painter yet to be discovered
A meeting was held in Piran at Casa Tartini dedicated to Cesare Dell'Acqua, one of the most fascinating and least celebrated painters of the 19th-century Adriatic.
The occasion was the presentation of the "2025 Complements" to the General Catalogue signed by Flavio Tossi in 2021. The author, welcomed by the president of the Piran CAN, Andrea Bartole, spoke with Kristjan Knez, retracing twenty years of research, discoveries, and a few strokes of luck.
Cesare Dell'Acqua was born in Piran in 1821, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, lived most of his life in Brussels, and worked for rich and noble clients.
