Commemorations of the victims of Arsia
The Istrian-Venetian Cultural Circle “Istria”, in collaboration with the Trade Unions, the Interregional Trade Union Council, the Provincial Consulate of Trieste of the Federation of Masters of Work and other local and regional bodies, is organizing a commemoration ceremony in memory of all the martyrs of work and the victims of the disaster that occurred in Istrian coal mines of Arsia on February 28, 1940.
It was the greatest tragedy that occurred on Italian soil at the time, in which 186 workers lost their lives.
The ceremony will take place Monday 28th February at 17pm in front of the Monument to the Fallen at Work in Ugo Irneri Square, Trieste.

At the same time, the event “Arsia 26 February 28: the greatest Italian mining tragedy” will take place in Sala Luttazzi in Warehouse 1940 of the Old Port of Trieste, organised by the provincial committee of Trieste of the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia.
