The President of the Association of Italians of Pula and Istria – Free Municipality of Pula in Exile, Tito Sidari, announces that on Sunday 18 August 2019 at 12 noon the commemoration of the Vergarolla massacre will be held at the Cathedral of Pula with a solemn mass officiated in Italian by Monsignor Desiderio Staver and the blessing of the memorial stone adjacent to the church.

This will be followed by the laying of flowers, a short message read by Vice-President Maria Rita Cosliani and a speech by the Italian Community of Pula, with which this event is organized annually.

The presence of the Consul General of Italy in Rijeka, Dr. Paolo Palminteri, and of the Honorary Consul of Italy in Pula, Attorney Tiziano Sosić, who is the President of the Municipal Council of Pula, is expected.
