The Istrian-Venetian cultural association “Istria” of Trieste has a new president, elected during the last assembly of the last few days. Ezio Giuricin, born in Fiume, lives in Trieste, journalist, historian and essayist, succeeds Livio Dorigo, for decades at the head of the association who will continue to operate as honorary president. A change wanted by Dorigo himself, a veterinarian from Pula, who has known the hardship of the refugee camp managing, despite everything, to assert himself in his long career spent in particular in the Varese area. Clear and understandable therefore his passion for bees, goats, sheep and oxen, which he has successfully brought also to the activity of the association with seminars, meetings, workshops and the realization of large projects such as the Parco della Concordia astride the border where plants and animals offer a path of study and knowledge for the young generations. During the decades of his leadership of the Club, the activity was vast, from publishing, to excursions in Istria and Kvarner, from initiatives in the field of fish farming and knowledge of the sea in close collaboration with Prof. Giuliano Orel, a famous biologist but also in the proposal of historical itineraries with Franco Colombo and Fabio Scropetta, from Roman ruins, to the ports touched by Venice, to the evolution of civilization in the reference territory.
"The proposal of the new Presidency Office - said Giuricin - will be in the name of continuity and with some innovative projects that we have been dealing with in recent months. I want to mention the Agreement signed with the University of Trieste and the proposal of the Multimedia Museum of the Exodus to be created in Rovinj starting from some virtual passages on the Circolo website. But there are many ideas, the work program is rich. Each of the newly elected will be assigned a field of activity in order to involve everyone in a proactive way. To the members already included in the Board, others have been added, mostly young people, able to suggest new fields and new technologies that project us towards the future".
