FederEsuli met with Undersecretary of Economy Savino
Renzo Codarin, President of the Federation of Associations of Istrian, Rijeka, and Dalmatian Exiles (FederEsuli), and Fabio Tognoni, Vice President, met with Sandra Savino, Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of Economy and Finance, on Monday, July 7, at Trieste City Hall.
On the table, in the presence of FI City Councilor Alberto Polacco, were international topics such as the new balance of power with neighboring Slovenia and Croatia, and the recognition of the historical truth regarding the events that marked the years of the Second World War and the postwar period, including the exodus from Julian, Fiume, and Dalmatia, and the tragedy of the Foibe.
Savino described the discussion as "important," reiterating the need to work together to ensure timely information and communication efforts on these issues.
President Codarin, outlining the upcoming events, emphasized the steady improvement in relations with neighboring countries, especially on sensitive issues that remain to be addressed but which "are now on the agenda of technical discussions and joint initiatives, on the path to recognizing history in its entirety."
Vice President Tognoni addressed the issue of the legitimacy of qualifications earned by Slovenian and Croatian students in Italy and by Italians in the two countries by their respective governments, calling for greater cooperation from all stakeholders.
The upcoming inauguration of the Immersive Ecomuseum – Virtual Exodus Exhibition, at the Vittoriano in Rome, and the initiatives involving the Ministries of Culture and University, have concluded the discussion.
