The exiles, disconcerted by Di Maio, want to meet Conte

The National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, disconcerted by the lack of attention paid to the still open issues concerning the Istrian exiles by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Di Maio during his visit to Slovenia, requests that a delegation of the associations of Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian exiles be able to meet with Prime Minister Conte.

On the occasion of the institutional ceremony of the 2020 Remembrance Day, President Conte had expressed appropriate words and demonstrated interest in resolving the problems still to be completed in terms of rights denied to compatriots forced to abandon Istria, Fiume and Dalmatia. Yet during this legislature the working table between FederEsuli and the Secretariat of the Presidency of the Council has not yet met and Minister Di Maio in Ljubljana addressed the issues of interest to the Slovenian minority, a delegation of which participated in the work, without taking into minimal consideration the problem of the goods abandoned by the exiles in today's Slovenian territory (the district of Capodistria).

Aware of the needs associated with the current situation of exiting the health crisis, the ANVGD nevertheless believes it is necessary that the requests of the exiles and their descendants, who are asking for justice more than seventy years after the signing of the Peace Treaty, are not once again neglected in the competent bodies, and that it is therefore necessary to restart the collaboration with the Government in order to finally reach a solution.
