Tremul Ziberna Gorizia

Gorizia European Capital of Culture also concerns Istria

CAPITAL OF CULTURE, WITH THE ITALIAN UNION THE INITIATIVES WILL ALSO COME TO ISTRIA

Ziberna met with President Tremul:
“Gorizia and Nova Gorica are already becoming an example for other border areas”

Studying new initiatives together to bring the message of the first historic European Capital of Culture across borders to Istria. This is the proposal that the mayors of Gorizia and Nova Gorica, Rodolfo Ziberna and Klemen Miklavic, received from the president of the Italian Union, Maurizio Tremul, an organization that represents the Italian community in Slovenian and Croatian Istria. “Our goal,” said Tremul, “has always been to promote and safeguard Italian culture in our territory, encouraging integration between our community and the Slovenian and Croatian ones. We immediately recognized ourselves in the courageous message launched by Gorizia and Nova Gorica with the joint project of European Capital of Culture 2025 and for this reason today we are knocking on this door offering to do our part. 2025 will be a very important year for all our border territories, which are characterized by their nature of multilingualism and the coexistence of different cultures.” Mayor Ziberna met Tremul in Piazza Transalpina, in compliance with the anti-contagion provisions. “The message we want to send together with Nova Gorica for the Capital of Culture is precisely this – commented the mayor – and therefore we can only be happy that, starting from those closest to us, other border communities are showing sensitivity towards this project. We want to become a symbol in Europe and demonstrate that a future without borders is possible”.
