The Days in Wagna (1915-1918)
The days in Wagna in the chronicle of the “Lagerzeitung” – Dani u Wagni prema pisanju list “Lagerzeitung”, by Josip Vretenar and David Orlović, for this dramatic story of the Great War found an outlet in the pages of volume number 42 of the Collection of Acts of the Historical Research Centre of Rovinj.
We can say that the volume through the journalistic chronicle of the years 1915-1918 spent by the Istrians in the internment camps of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy represents an important testimony on a complex and dramatic event that involved and therefore saw as protagonist part of the Istrian population, that of lower Istria, and not only as an effect of special strategic-military measures but also as an attitude of further distrust of the competent Austro-Hungarian authorities towards the Italian component of the aforementioned area following the signing of the London Pact and the declaration of war by Italy.
