After the success of 1st edition of Trieste, where the demonstration took place last December 10th, the Memory Race is preparing to experience its fifth edition in Rome on Sunday 4 February.
The race, as per tradition, is scheduled for the Sunday preceding the “Remembrance Day” which every February 10th commemorates the tragedy of the Foibe and the dramatic exodus of the Julian-Dalmatian populations.
Also this year the event, organized in collaboration with the Provincial Committee of Rome of the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, will have as its stage the streets of Julian-Dalmatian district, close to Via Laurentina, where most of the refugees who arrived in the capital reside, as well as their heirs, who have strongly maintained the historical memory of their origins and their parents.
The So, the body that conceived and has always organised the event, will avail itself this year of the technical contribution of the GS Roman Bankers, the organizers of RomaOstia, who will constitute an added value to the event by guaranteeing, as per their standards, a very high professional level in the management of the race.
The race also in this fifth edition includes a 10km competitive has always been non-competitive 5km, involves a substantial modification of the route. The new route, the result of a careful study of the neighborhood streets and the needs of runners, has already been presented to the IX Municipio and is in the process of being approved. The start and finish will always be in Via Oscar Senigaglia, a symbolic place of the Giuliano-Dalmata neighborhood, where the awards ceremony will also take place in the presence of authorities and champions of the past.
