The CDM with the Anvgd and the Italian Union in a multimedia project
The Italian Union, the Multimedia Documentation Center (CDM) of the Julian, Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian culture and the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia (ANVGD) met on Friday 23 June in Koper, in order to launch a new joint cultural initiative, within the framework of the excellent relations created also within European projects. The aim is to consolidate the strong collaboration already existing between the three bodies with regard to history, culture and traditions, on the basis of the agreement signed in July 2021 in Zagreb between FederEsuli and the Italian Union.
The synthesis of this joint project will be the upcoming creation of a joint multimedia platform, with content proposed by the Italian National Community in Croatia and Slovenia and by the world of exiles. At the same time, preparatory work has begun for the establishment of the Museum of the Exodus to be created jointly by the Italian Union and the community of exiles.
This initiative, it was underlined by the participants of the meeting, also wants to be a practical contribution to the peace process started with the Concert of Trieste on 13 July 2010, continued with the meetings of the Croatian President, Ivo Josipović and the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano on 3 September 2011, at the Italian Community and at the Arena of Pula, then with the historic acts of reconciliation in Basovizza on 13 July 2020 desired by the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella and the Slovenian President, Borut Pahor. A path that must necessarily continue and hopefully also extend to Croatia. In this context, the hope was also expressed that Slovenia will restore the National Day to commemorate the memory of the victims of communist violence.
"The creation of this multimedia platform and the Museum of the Exodus, which I sincerely hope will find a place in the Italian Multimedia Center Gravisi in the historic Gravisi-Buttorai building of the same name in Capodistria, has a very important value - declared the national president of the ANVGD, Cav. Renzo Codarin - and will represent an experience, in terms of content and historical material, that can also be exported to other Italian cultural realities".
"Our excellent relations with the representative bodies of the Exiles are now a certainty: our intention is to further concretize them with innovative joint initiatives in the European spirit and aimed at the new generations", declared the President of the Italian Union, Maurizio Tremul.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Italian Union, Maurizio Tremul, and the President of the ANVGD and CDM, Cav. Renzo Codarin, as well as the President of the Fameja Capodistriana, Avv. Piero Sardos Albertini.
Before the meeting with the President of the Italian Union, Maurizio Tremul, Renzo Codarin himself together with Piero Sardos Albertini, met with the Consul General of Italy, Dr. Giovanni Coviello, to discuss the age-old issue of the protection of the historical Italian tombs in the cemetery of Capodistria. The consul was given two copies of the book-comic “Nazario Sauro. Son of Istria, Hero of Italy”, the DVD with the documentary on Bishop Santin and the crest of the Anvgd.
President Codarin also expressed concern to Consul Coviello about the recent revocation by the Slovenian government of the national day dedicated to the victims of communism. "A decision," commented Codarin, "that risks rekindling new divisions and ruining the positive climate that has been created so far in relations between Italy and Slovenia."
