The Circle of Culture and Arts presents 1954 Trieste after America
THE PROJECT “1954 – TRIESTE AFTER AMERICA” IS UNDERWAY: CINEMA, MUSIC, PHOTOGRAPHY AND WORDS FOR
TELLING THE STARS AND STRIPES DAYS OF TRIESTE.
A film festival featuring documentaries, spy stories shot in Trieste and rediscovered and restored period films, from “I nostri giorni americani” (2014) by Chiara Barbo and Andrea Magnani to “La campana di San Giusto” (1954) by Ruggero Maccari.
A swing show with the Les Babettes trio, a jazz concert with the Tartini Conservatory orchestra, a round table discussion and a photographic exhibition with shots that have made history, such as the famous “Kiss” by Ugo Borsatti, which immortalizes the emotional greeting between a young American soldier and a Trieste “mula”.
These are the main initiatives, all with free admission, part of the project “1954 – Trieste after America”, conceived by the Circolo della Cultura e delle Arti di Trieste and implemented with the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Casali Foundations to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the return of Trieste to Italy and remember the nine years of Anglo-American administration that preceded it, profoundly influencing the artistic-cultural and economic-social life of the city.
