The Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Music in Trieste will perform the music for the official celebrations of Remembrance Day 2023 on Friday 10 February at the Quirinale Palace, in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.

The institutional ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be broadcast live on Rai1 , as well as on the Chamber of Deputies' satellite channel and web TV.

The Tartini String Orchestra will perform, an all-female ensemble for the occasion . Sandro Torlontano , Director of the Tartini Conservatory , who will accompany the Orchestra together with Daniela Dado, President of the Conservatory, explains : " We are honored and grateful to the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella for the invitation received to participate in the commemoration of Remembrance Day in Rome. It is an acknowledgement that we experience with great satisfaction for our Institution and for the entire city of Trieste. The Conservatory's String Orchestra, trained by Prof. Alberto Franchin, professor of Ensemble Music for string instruments, will present a group of 12 young and talented musicians, and will perform two great works of music for strings during the ceremony: the Elegy "Crisantemi" by Giacomo Puccini and the Allegro from the Symphony for Strings in D Major by Giuseppe Tartini . It will be an opportunity to renew, even before the highest officials of the State, the cosmopolitan vocation of the Tartini Conservatory as a place of fruitful coexistence between international cultures ."

The Day of Remembrance was established in memory of the tragedy of the Italians and of all the victims of the foibe, of the exodus from their lands of the Istrians, Fiume and Dalmatians in the post-war period and of the more complex story of the eastern border.
