2020 marks the 250th anniversary of the death of Giuseppe Tartini (Piran, 8 April 1692 – Padua, 26 February 1770), an Istrian violinist who became famous for “The Devil’s Trill”.

This is the facsimile reprint of the Trieste edition of 1896, published on the occasion of the third centenary of the birth of Giuseppe Tartini. The volume, edited at the time by the Provincial Committee for the Centenary of Giuseppe Tartini (printed at the Stabilimento Artistico Tipografico G. Caprin in Trieste), outlines the life (author Marco Tamaro) and musical works (author Gustavo Wieselberger) of the great musician from Piran. This last part is accompanied by the publication of some unpublished documents, the score of Tartini's Miserere and the list of Tartini's manuscripts owned at the time by the Municipality of Piran. The facsimile reprint is preceded by a presentation by Ivano Cavallini who focuses in particular on the Tartini celebrations of the late nineteenth century and on the relationship between Gianrinaldo Carli and Giuseppe Tartini. In the appendix to the reprint, added outside the text as an attachment (of 4 pages printed instead of the manuscript), is the score of the Marcia Inno per Tartini composed by Antonio Smareglia.
