New publication: a scholarly essay entitled "AlterItà. An Essay on the Indigenous 'Italian' Cultures of Istria, Dalmatia, the Bay of Kotor, and the Italian Grisons: Vitality, Fragility, and Bonds" has been published (Isepponi, Poschiavo (Switzerland) 2018, pp. 359) (ISBN: 9788890435430. Dewey Decimal Classification: 305.851049).

The author is ethnographer Gabriele Paleari (1971), who teaches at Nottingham Trent University, England. AlterItà examines the indigenous cultures of Istria, Dalmatia, Boka Kotorska, and Italian-speaking Graubünden. The term 'culture' refers to expressions such as architecture, food and wine, literature, and languages. The study highlights tensions between cultural fragility and vitality by analyzing photographs, literary prose, and case studies on the specificities of each region. The idea of ​​AlterItà , that is, of 'Italian' cultural diversity, breaks away from the concepts of 'nation' and 'Italianness' associated with the Italian Republic. The essay aims to contribute to raising awareness of the existence of these cultures, which are neglected for ideological reasons.
