Deputy Minister Del Re commits himself to the exiles

The dialogue between the Government and the associations of Istrian, Fiume and Dalmatian exiles continues to resolve the still open issues regarding the world of the Adriatic diaspora and the subject of the work of the Coordination Table established at the Presidency of the Council. A delegation of representatives of the associations of exiles was received by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Emanuela Claudia Del Re, in order to give continuity to last summer's meeting with the head of the Farnesina, at the time Minister Moavero Milanesi.

The delegation also included the president of the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, Renzo Codarin, who noted: «The Hon. Del Re remained in office during the transition from the Conte I government to the Conte II government and this guarantees continuity in addressing our problems relating to Foreign Affairs. However, also in view of the imminent celebrations of the Day of Remembrance, we have found – continues Codarin – a truly important institutional sensitivity, regardless of the continuity of the roles».

"It was an extremely cordial and productive meeting," commented Antonio Ballarin, president of the Federation of Associations of Istrian, Fiume, and Dalmatian Exiles , "and, aware that these are issues that also concern other ministries, we received confirmation from the Deputy Minister that the Farnesina is committed and supportive on issues pertaining to the debt of Yugoslavia's successor states to Italy (Treaty of Osimo), the issue of 'just and fair compensation' expected by the exiles and their families from the Italian State, and the awarding of the Gold Medal for Military Valor to the Gonfalone of the City of Zadar."
