The new structure aims to enhance and promote the cultural heritage of the peninsula's castles and their villages 

The old Momjan dairy has been transformed into the House of Istrian Castles in three years of construction. On the ground floor of the three-story building there is an information point and the old families of the area and local products are presented.

On the first floor there is a multimedia room for various types of meetings, an exhibition space and a multipurpose room and on the second floor there is an exhibition dedicated to the history of the town. Visitors are offered a virtual tour of Istrian castles.

The total investment is 930.000 euros, half of which is provided by the Istrian Region, 240 by the city of Buie, while the rest is made up of European funds allocated under the cross-border collaboration program Italy – Croatia 2014 – 2020. A program, we recall, designed to define and promote the Adriatic Region as an intelligent, integrated, sustainable and accessible Mediterranean tourist destination all year round, whose value is represented by the common natural and cultural heritage.

As emphasized at the opening ceremony attended by representatives of the Croatian government, the county and the city of Buje, the House of Castles represents an added value of Central Istria. It stands alongside the House of Frescoes in Draguć, the House of Writers in Pazin, the Centre for Intangible Culture in Pićan and the Mediterranean Dance Centre in Svetvinčenat.
