Meeting with Giordano Bruno Guerri and other initiatives of the Society of Fiumani Studies

President Giovanni Stelli and Director of the Historical Archive Museum of Fiume Marino Micich met with the President of the Vittoriale degli Italiani Foundation Giordano Bruno Guerri. Some programmatic lines of collaboration have been established between the Society of Fiumani Studies and the Vittoriale Foundation whose president has established a “Fiume Office” with Dr. Federico Carlo Simonelli as contact, to be able to celebrate the next centenary of the D'Annunzio Enterprise of Fiume (1919-2019) also with the involvement of the Fiume exiles. Initiatives are planned at the Vittoriale, in Rome and in Fiume.

In Rijeka in particular, contact will be made with the Rijeka Office for Rijeka European Capital of Culture and other museum institutions in the city.

Giovanni Stelli's "History of Fiume" was presented in Cremona in collaboration with the Historical Institute of the Risorgimento of Cremona and Lodi chaired by Prof. Emanuele Bettini. Speakers included Laura Calci, Marino Micich, Federico Carlo Simonelli and the author Giovanni Stelli. Guido Brazzoduro, president of the Association of Fiumani Italiani nel Mondo - Free Municipality of Fiume in exile, was present in the room.

Site Survey – ITALIAN FALLEN PIT IN CASTUA (Kastav-Croatia)- Present, in addition to the Italian Consul in Rijeka Paolo Palminteri and the representatives of Onorcaduti Italian and Croatian counterpart, at the first Site Survey were prof. Giovanni Stelli and dr. Marino Micich who, based on the research of dr. Amleto Ballarini carried out years ago, confirmed the burial place of Senator Riccardo Gigante and 10 other Italians killed on May 4, 1945 by a Yugoslavian partisan unit. The parish priest of the city of Castua don Jurcevic on this occasion also confirmed the place of the presumed burial. From 1999 until 2016 the Society of Fiumani Studies has always celebrated a Mass in Castua in suffrage of the fallen but also to promote the recovery of the remains. In 2017 the Mass was celebrated in Rome in the Church of Santa Maria in Aquiro in the presence of over 120 people. Political and civil authorities were present.

Full support of the Society of Fiumani Studies to the project of the Italian nursery school in Rijeka proposed and supported by the president of the Italian Community Orietta Marot. This is the result of the meeting between Prof. Giovanni Stelli and Dr. Marino Micich with Orietta Marot who also considered the desire to collaborate on the events that will be organized as part of Rijeka, European Capital of Culture 2020.

With Pamich at the Italian Community of Fiume – The books by Pamich-Roberti “The Great Adventure of Fiumano Sport” (ed. Aracne) and by Pamich “Memoirs of a Walker” ed. Biblioteca dell'Immagine” were presented with good public success at the Italian Community of Fiume. The book by Pamich-Roberti was financed by the Society of Fiumani Studies. Many speakers wanted to pay homage to Pamich who was present at the meeting well moderated by Andrea Marsanich: Bruno Buontempo, Giovanni Stelli, Gianna Mazzieri Sankovic, Michele Scalembra, Marinko Lazzarich, Glorija Tijan.
