We publish the greeting address written by the President of the CDM – Renzo Codarin – for the publication in the book of the 2014 Competition of the Mailing List Histria

The Multimedia Documentation Center of Julian Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian Culture also this year accepts the invitation of the Mailing List Histria to contribute to the publication that masterfully collects the themes of winners and participants in the now traditional literary competition, an initiative considered its flagship. Let us remember, this virtual Association was born to preserve and protect the cultural identity of Istria, Rijeka, Kvarner and Dalmatia of Italian character, guided by a multi-ethnic spirit and free from any political affiliation. The MLH fits perfectly with the objectives and commitment of the CDM which since its foundation (1999) to date has sought with a wide range of initiatives to spread and preserve the history and culture of the Eastern Adriatic. The Competition has a very specific purpose: to encourage and enhance the study and use of the Italian language and Romance dialects in the younger generations. The unifying element represented by the spoken and written language is fundamental for the preservation and strengthening of a numerically minority national identity but extremely important also for the richness of the typical dialects that we find in these realities. A treasure that we have the obligation to preserve and guard with love. I would say that ultimately it is a task to which we are all called in today's Europe continuing this path through culture, dialogue and collaboration.
