“Twice Italian: once by birth. Once by choice”. How many times have we heard or said with admiration this phrase when speaking of exiles? Because being Italian means respecting our Homeland. Giving what we can, and sometimes even more, for Her and for her children who are our brothers.

When they heard about the Marsica earthquake – January 13, 1915 – Nazario Sauro and the other exiles rushed to help. Because you can't be Italian without loving your community. How many times have we heard or said to ourselves “why aren't we a People, why are we divided?” Too many. Yet our anthem continues with “Let us gather together under one flag, one hope: the hour has already struck to merge us together.” And “the hour” strikes more often than we tell ourselves.

As the February 10 Committee, you know by now, we do what we do for love. Not only for Istria, Dalmatia and its unfortunate children. But for the love of Italy that calls us where it is most needed. And so we decided to make a documentary about our best brothers: those who come running when everything collapses. When there is most need.

A documentary about Nazario Sauro and the other heroes in Marsica, the mud angels in Florence, and a few years ago in Genoa, the volunteers, part of the civil protection and all those associations that rushed to Irpinia, Belice, Friuli and more recently in Umbria, L'Aquila, Emilia, Amatrice.

Telling the courage. Telling the sacrifice. Telling that we are Italians and when everything collapses the best of us, and they are not, we are not, few, come running. We come running.

This is why we are participating in a competition. The first-place project will receive 15.000 euros. Tied to the realization of the project. Today we ask you to help us. To "join in cohort" with us.

To their Homeland which, as Nazario Sauro taught us, "is the plural of Father".

And then we will broadcast the documentary in schools, libraries, squares. Wherever there is a need to remember that Italy, the real one, is this. That of courage, that of giving, that of the community.
