The Eastern Adriatic Book Fair at Librixia 2025
The 2025 edition of Librixia – Brescia Book and Culture Fair is about to begin and this year too it will host the Multimedia Documentation Centre of the Julian, Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian culture of Trieste which, in collaboration with Sestante Edizioni, will be present with the Stall. Eastern Adriatic Book FairThere will be a book stand in Piazza Vittoria in Brescia and cultural events under the slogan “A look at the Adriatic border”.
Last Friday, the press conference to present Librixia 2025 (September 27 – October 5) took place, and Mayor Laura Castelletti emphasized that Librixia is "much more than a book fair: it is a shared experience, born from the collaborative work of institutions, bookstores, publishers, and readers, capable of strengthening the bond between the city, books, and those who love them."
For Eugenio Massetti, president of Confartigianato and patron of the fair, "Librixia is a popular event, open to all: reading is a right, not a luxury. It's also a driving force that generates economic value, attracts tourism, engages businesses, and strengthens ties with the local area."
Giuliano Pellegrini, general manager of BCC Agrobresciano, the event's main sponsor, reiterated that "supporting Librixia means investing in the social and cultural growth of the community, a commitment we as a local bank renew with conviction and which we have chosen to double this year."
Councilor Andrea Poli highlighted the fair's value as a "driver of social and economic innovation, capable of injecting new energy into the region."
Secretary General Carlo Piccinato recalled that "182 meetings are scheduled, a sign of growth and the confidence that many authors continue to renew in Brescia."
As regards the Stall, instead, the program "A traveling exhibition for the history of the eastern border" was developed together with the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, the Federation of Associations of Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian Exiles and the Ministry of Education and Merit and will take place on the second weekend of the Brescia festival.
On Friday, October 3rd, at 16:00 PM, the LA FRONTIERA ADRIATICA APP PROJECT by Mazzanti Editore will be presented, with Andrea Mazzanti and Caterina Spezzano, in the Sala Camino – Palazzo Martinengo delle Palle, Via S. Martino della Battaglia (Brescia). In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit, the Council of Ministers (CDM), and the National Association of Italian Governments (ANVGD).
On Saturday, October 4th at 11:00 am, the book by Egea Haffner and Gigliola Alvisi THE GIRL WITH THE SUITCASE: My journey through the memories of an exile at the time of the foibe (Piemme editore, Milan 2022) will be presented at the Agrobresciano Arena in Piazza Vittoria (Bs) with Caterina Spezzano, Alessandro Cuk and Egea Haffner, the "girl with the suitcase" from the famous photo that has become an icon of the Julian-Dalmatian exodus, and with the participation of actress Sinead Thornhill, who played Egea in the RAI drama based on the book and broadcast in prime time on Rai 1 last February 10th. On this occasion, the "Journeys of remembrance to the sites of the foibe and the Julian-Dalmatian exodus and to the lands of origin of the exiles" will be presented.
Finally, on Sunday, October 5th, at 17:00 PM, Raoul Pupo's latest book, "ITALIANITY ADRIATICA. THE ORIGINS, 1945, THE CATASTROPHE" (Laterza, Rome-Bari 2025), will be presented. The author will be speaking with Giovanni Spinelli in a discussion to reflect on history and our past. Organized in collaboration with the ANVGD,
the CDM and the House of Memory.
