The 2025 Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Quirinale
The celebration of the “Day of Remembrance” 10 took place on Monday 2025 February at the Quirinale Palace, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
The ceremony, conducted by Dr. Valeria Ferrante, opened with the reading, by actress Gaja Masciale, of two passages from the book “Le foibe spiegate ai ragazzi” by Greta Sclaunich.
Speakers included Professor Davide Rossi, Vice President of the Federation of Associations of Istrian, Fiuman and Dalmatian Exiles, historian Egidio Ivetic, full professor of Modern History at the University of Padua, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani.
During the event, excerpts from the film “La bambina con la valigia” and the documentary “Rotta 230 – Ritorno alla terra dei Padri” were shown, followed by contributions from Mrs. Egea Haffner and Mr. Giulio Marongiu, exiles from Pola.
The string orchestra of the G. Tartini Conservatory of Trieste conducted by Maestro Sandro Tortolano performed “Adagio” in G minor by Tomaso Albinoni and the musical piece “Concerto” in G major “Alla Rustica” by Antonio Vivaldi.
The ceremony concluded with the speech of the President of the Republic.
Present at the ceremony were the President of the Senate of the Republic, Ignazio La Russa, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, the President of the Constitutional Court, Giovanni Amoroso, the Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies, Giorgio Mulè, representatives of the Government, Parliament, civil authorities and members of the Associations of Istrian, Fiume and Dalmatian exiles.
Previously in the Hall of Mirrors, after the greeting of the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, President Sergio Mattarella, assisted by the Minister and the President of FederEsuli, Renzo Codarin, awarded the winning Schools of the Competition "10 February - Historical itineraries in places and urban spaces of Italian cities in search of the memory of the lands of the Adriatic Border".
