Piran's CI takes center stage at the International Maritime Festival
The "Giuseppe Tartini" Italian Community of Piran was a key player at the Escale International Maritime Festival, held recently in Sète, southern France. In the Slovenian-owned space, the Piran association set up a stand together with the "S. Mašera" Maritime Museum of Piran and the Regional Museum of Koper, where the Famea dei Salinieri ethnographic group showcased traditional salt production.
On April 2nd, the Slovenian pavilion was officially opened by local authorities and organizers, who hosted the Mayor of Koper, Aleš Bržan, and the Slovenian Ambassador to Paris, Renata Cvelbar Bek. The inauguration celebration was accompanied by singing and music from the Mandolinistica Capodistriana of the CI Santorio Santorio, while La Famea dei salinari (The Saltworkers' Association) presented visitors with bags of Piran salt. In the following days, the "white gold" tributes continued, as well as the costumed group "In the Time of Tartini" (Al tempo di Tartini), which evoked the atmosphere of Baroque Piran during the Venetian Republic.
