Italian Community Fiume La Tore

«La Tore», lots of news and a return to the past

Issue 32 of “La Tore” was presented, an unmissable event during the days when Fiume celebrates its patron saint San Vito. We browsed through the latest issue of the magazine in the Salone delle feste della Comunità degli Italiani together with Florinda Klevisser, who this year agreed to write it in a short time. The space we have available to report everything it contains is also limited and therefore there is, more than the risk, the certainty of leaving out something that would be worth mentioning.
Klevisser made the roundup supported by Rina Brumini, who is part of the editorial team composed of Lea Čeč, Sandro Damiani, Ivan Jeličić and Vanni D'Alessio. There is something new, more precisely a return to the past, resuming the old graphic design used up to issue 29, created by Daria Vlahov Horvat, who died prematurely ten years ago. Inside there is a thought dedicated to her as well as the back cover on which we find one of her paintings.

The editorial by the editor in charge is, in short, an invitation to all interested parties to collaborate with contributions. As we said, the production of this issue began with a long delay because no one had responded to the first call for proposals, published in the fall. Therefore, in just a few months we managed to put together a product, crossing the finish line in good time. Among the contributions was that of Bruno Bontempo, a collaborator from the very beginning, since the first "rudimentary" issues produced within our newspaper on the initiative of Ettore Mazzieri, at the time head of the sports column. There is a summary of the last year in the CI, edited by the president Melita Sciucca, an interview with Marin Corva, president of the Executive Board of the Italian Union, with an emphasis on the imminent construction of the Italian nursery school, followed by the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Ceramisti section of the "Romolo Venucci". There is also a tribute to Bruno Petrali, who passed away recently, a Rijeka character present in music, theater and sports. Ornella Sciucca remembered another person who passed away, Nicoletta Olivieri. There are many, many other themes, authors and protagonists to whom the glossy pages of the magazine have been dedicated and the best way to learn about them is to get hold of a copy, or to browse it in the online edition. Finally, thanks to those who made it possible, namely the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic through the Italian Union, the People's University of Trieste and the Office for Human Rights and the Rights of National Minorities of the Republic of Croatia.

Among the large audience that attended the presentation at Palazzo Modello, there was also the Consul General Davide Bradanini, his predecessor Renato Cianfarani and the representatives of AFIM-LCFE and SSF. Musical intermission offered by the very young pianist Kaja Nikolić.
