The Voice of the People Agriculture Buiese Venice 800

Agriculture in Buiese: the Venetian Age and the 19th Century Transformations

The Italian Community of Buie, in collaboration with the local Open People's University, hosted a cultural evening dedicated to the presentation of the volume Agriculture in Buiese – The Venetian Age and the 19th Century Transformations, written by the historian and journalist of The Voice of the People Denis Visintin.

The event, opened by Lena Korenika, president of the association, was attended by numerous prominent figures from the culture and regional politics, confirming the importance of this work for the enhancement of the Istrian territory. Korenika expressed the honor of being able to host the presentation of such a significant work for local history.

The volume, published by the Society of Historical and Geographical Studies of Piran and produced with the financial support of the CI “Giuseppe Tartini” of Piran, the Italian Union and the People's University of Trieste, as well as with the contribution of the Veneto Region and with the support of the Provincial Committee of Padua of the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, represents the seventh in the series “Sources and studies for the history of the Eastern Adriatic”.

The cover, embellished with a painting by the artist Amina Konate, depicting Portole, which also has Buie and its cultivated terraces around the urban center in the background, accompanies the entire graphic project curated by Chiara Quaglia, with photographs by Gianfranco Abrami and Miranda Legović.
