The current events of Remembrance Day
The Ugo Spirito and Renzo De Felice Foundation and the Multimedia Documentation Center of Julian, Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian Culture, in collaboration with the Federation of Associations of Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian Exiles, are organizing a teleconference on Monday 22 February at 17:30 pm entitled “The relevance of Remembrance Day (2004-2021)”.

Introduced and moderated by Davide Rossi (University of Trieste), speakers will include Giuseppe de Vergottini (President of FederEsuli), Donatella Schürzel (Vice President of the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia), Andrea Ungari (Guglielmo Marconi University – Rome), Luciano Violante (President Emeritus of the Chamber of Deputies) and Rodolfo Ziberna (Mayor of Gorizia, European Capital of Culture 2025 together with the Slovenian Nova Gorica).
In light of the events that have occurred since March 30, 2004, the day on which Law 92 establishing the Day of Remembrance was approved, to date (the accession of Slovenia and Croatia to the European Union, the Concert of the Three Presidents, the visit of the Italian and Slovenian presidents to the Basovizza Foiba on July 13, 2020, the identification of new foibe and mass graves in Slovenian and Croatian territory), the speakers will focus on the meaning of February 10 for public opinion, on its dimension not only national but also European, on the repercussions in the political debate and on the new historiographical issues.
