The Go!2025 experience is also taking center stage in North Macedonia.
We are thrilled to share the GO!2025 experience with Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, which will be the European Capital of Culture in 2028.
Together with the mayor of Nova Gorica, Samo Turel, and representatives of Gect GO and Zavod, I accepted the invitation to participate in an intense two-day meeting to discuss the challenges and opportunities this prestigious title brings. It was an opportunity to learn about the stories and symbols of the Macedonian city, led by its mayor, Orce Gjorgjievski, and to speak at Europe House Skopje about how our European Capital of Culture, the first cross-border event in history, has made us an example of collaboration and peace. Many prestigious guests were present, including the Italian, Slovenian, and German ambassadors, and representatives from Chemnitz, which was also a European Capital of Culture in 2025.
Macedonia is still on the path to joining the European Union, so it is all the more hopeful that, thanks also to the contribution we are making, the 2028 edition of Skopje will be remembered as a great European Capital of Culture for building bridges of unity and a common European identity.
