With the European Capital of Culture in 2025, hundreds of thousands of tourists will arrive and we will not only have to be able to welcome them adequately but also to amaze them so that they return in subsequent years. For this reason, we must deploy all our best resources, from hospitality operators to restaurateurs, from real estate agencies to cultural, sports and leisure associations. And then, in cascade, all the entities with which to create synergies to give our territory that true tourist dimension that heralds quantitative and qualitative economic growth.
This keeping in mind that Gorizia, on this occasion, will be the centre of a much larger territory, not only in a cross-border context, but also in a regional context.
For this reason, as I have already said, there is the will to create a control room with the Region, Cciaa and Fondazione Carigo for a far-reaching plan.
But we must start from Gorizia and that is why we have started, in these days, the first meetings with some categories that will undoubtedly be protagonists in the coming years. Councilors Sartori and Oreti together with my spokesperson, Artico, the communications office staff and the top management of the productive activities and economic development service have met operators in the hospitality segment, B&Bs, rooms and apartments for rent and other typologies while hoteliers were met previously.
There was great willingness to participate in this challenge and it was an opportunity to focus on critical issues but also strengths. Various things were discussed, including contributions that should come from the Region for the creation of this type of structure and which we will inform you about shortly through our channels. A first overview in which, moreover, it emerged that, after the reopening, the arrival of tourists has resumed in full, even from non-European countries, such as the United States, Australia and Asia. And Gorizia seems to be very popular. Some have reported having beds occupied until November.
I thank the operators who, together with us, have started this journey and those who will join us along the way. It is a challenge that will make Gorizia grow in every sense. An exciting challenge in which everyone will have to do their part and that we will all win together.
