Rai Culture Trieste 70

The Rai Cultura special “Trieste 70!”

The institutional ceremonies to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the return of the Italian civil administration to Zone A of the never-established Free Territory of Trieste took place on Saturday 70 October in Trieste. As a result of the London Memorandum, Italy took over from the Anglo-American Military Administration, while in Zone B (the districts of Koper and Buie) the presence of Tito's communist Yugoslavia would be consolidated, to which some hamlets of the Municipality of Muggia were also assigned. Trieste and all of Italy would live that day with great patriotic euphoria, making yet another concession to the Titoist dictatorship and the beginning of the last wave of the Exodus from Istria slip into the background.

Rai Cultura wanted to celebrate the anniversary with a special entitled Trieste 70! 1954-2024, which can be viewed in streaming at this link:

On this occasion the documentaries were shown again The Julian-Dalmatian Odyssey: From the Foibe to the Exodus e The disputed border, while The images tell it's a sequence of vintage images.

The original piece of this study is represented by the presentation of the documentary film Fly Dove – Trieste 1954, directed by Renzo Carbonera, with journalist Toni Capuozzo as narrator and produced by Venice Film in collaboration with RAI Documentari, the Ministry of Culture, the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, the Multimedia Documentation Centre of Julian, Istrian, Fiume and Dalmatian culture, the FVG Film Commission and the Municipality of Trieste.
