“Mili muoi, that's what my grandmother called me…”

Carlo Colombo is a pianist, author and singer from Treviso, but he is also the son of Julian-Dalmatian refugees.

He decided to tackle the thorny issue of the exodus from the territories of Istria and Dalmatia following the establishment of Tito's communist dictatorship in Yugoslavia after 1945, experienced primarily by his paternal and maternal family.

He tells stories of escapes by sea and by land, accompanying himself with the piano, the ekatron and the Toy Piano; he also does it by singing period songs and original songs that he wrote especially for this show.

The testimonies are all direct and acquired since childhood from his grandparents and when from the 70s onwards he regularly returned with his parents to their lands of origin.

It talks about Nori, Livia, Tina, women who, helped by their men, have rebuilt their lives far from their homeland following daring escapes, risky for themselves and for their remaining family members.

The show is a sound journey through the memories of a world that was there and has moved elsewhere.
