The Tower 31 Cifiume

New issue of “La Tore” and renewed website for the Italian Community of Fiume

The new edition of “La Tore” was presented at the headquarters of the Italian Community of Fiume. The topics covered in issue 31 of the magazine were illustrated by editor Moreno Vrancich, a journalist for our daily newspaper, Rina Brumini and journalist Ornella Sciucca, also a member of the editorial staff of Voce del popolo.

The CI website
The meeting was introduced by the presentation of the new website of the CI of Rijeka, by Federico Guidotto (member of the Executive of the Italian Community of Rijeka). The graphic design was completed by Sanjin Mačar, while the video on the Homepage was created by the company CroMount. As explained by Guidotto, this is in some ways a beta version of the page, as it will be updated and improved in the coming months. In addition to containing all the information related to the activities promoted by the Community, the website (www.cifiume.com) offers an exhaustive list, in the Network subsection, of all the institutions linked to the Italians in Rijeka, as well as a series of interesting historical data on the CI and Palazzo Modello and a large amount of written and audiovisual materials focused on the Italianity of the capital of Kvarner. Furthermore, in the Library section, users have the possibility of accessing the catalogue of the collection of texts preserved by the association, while the Digital Archive of the site offers the opportunity to consult the publications edited by the Community, including all the editions of “La tore”.

The intricate history of Fiume
The latest issue of the magazine presents an interesting series of texts written and edited by Moreno Vrancich, Vanni D'Alessio, Rina Brumini, Ivan Jeličić, Bruno Bontempo and Ornella Sciucca, divided into three sections: “Community = People”, “Our History” and “Opinions and Stories”. Current issues are addressed, such as the issue of mixed marriages or the constantly updated Memory Archive project, as well as topics related to the intricate history of Rijeka, the study of which continues to give us new surprises. Through testimonies and historical research, the articles of “La tore” reconfirm the multiple and stratified national and cultural physiognomy of the capital of Kvarner, which is reflected in the stories of key figures in Rijeka's history, such as Giovanni Kobler, whose national identity is addressed in an article by Moreno Vrancich. Space is also given to important figures of the CNI, such as Silvana Zorich and Giacomo Scotti, but also to those who have recently left us, including Silvana Vlahov, Rosi Gasparini and Mario Schiavato. In addition to those listed above, the new issue of “La tore” will reveal to readers many other interesting themes and ideas for further study.
