Piran celebrated St. George and the salt workers
Piran has once again celebrated its patron saint, Saint George, and the legends associated with him. The legend has been revived that in the 14th century, the saint, invoked by the faithful, saved the people of Piran from a terrible storm that threatened to sweep away their homes. As a sign of thanksgiving, every year around April 23rd, the Patron Saint's Day is celebrated, which in the past was linked to another important event for the people of Piran: the beginning of work on the salt pans.
