The film "Oh dear land of mine" was presented in Dignano.
On the evening of August 14th, the Italian Community of Dignano hosted a presentation of the film "Oh cara terra mia," made by Maria Grazia Belci for the Association of Italians of Pula and Istria – Free Municipality of Pula in Exile.
This work collects video interviews with 44 people from Dignano, Gallese, and the Valle d'Aosta region, starting from the 2011 Dignanese National Gathering. These interviews include some previously unpublished interviews, compared to those that led to the publication of the book "Forgotten Exoduses, People of Dignano on the Move," edited by the Dignanese Family. The video content of this volume is now made public.
The central theme is the exodus, with all its historical and human implications. Alongside this, stories of daily life before the conflict emerge, as well as the experiences of those who chose to remain, confronting the profound transformations that followed.
The testimonies reveal stories marked by hardship and suffering, but also by lasting bonds, adaptability, and resilience, as well as significant elements of the rural and maritime life of the area.
The video version of the project, freely available on the AIPI-LCPE YouTube channel, further enhances these stories, conveying the depth of emotion through the faces and expressions of the interviewees: from the bitterness of abandonment to the emotion of return.
