Rodolfo Ziberna's mystery novel "The Last Contract" reprinted
The re-edition of the first mystery/thriller novel written by the current mayor of Gorizia Rodolfo Ziberna and published 25 years ago, entitled “L'ultimo contratto” (The Last Contract), was presented. The work, now unobtainable in bookstores also due to the critical success and sales it achieved at the time, has been re-edited by Goliardica Editrice of Trieste and the author's proceeds will be donated to charity.
History.
At 46, Luca Florio is a man who has arrived. He has achieved success, money and power. However, he keeps a secret that he cannot reveal to anyone, not even to his wife Giulia, an ambitious and fascinating career woman. The search for justice makes his life intersect with that of members of organized crime - such as the Brenta mafia - and he comes into contact with a mysterious Foundation, led by five men above suspicion, who intervene to defend victims of violence, acting well beyond the limits of legality.
The novel, set mainly in Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, captivates the reader with its suspense, its fast pace and twists, until the surprising ending. There are also many references to Trieste, its evocative places, its gastronomy and architecture.
